Public Relations Plan

Two Media Exposure Ideas
1. Publish a story in JagNews
2. Host a Mental Wellness Mixer/Service Kickoff

This plan's first strategy to increase media exposure for this service line is to connect with JagNews to publish an article about CAPS Grief Counselling Resources. The editors receive these pitches through their email, jagnews@iu.edu. The story would include a high-level overview of the service, upcoming events being hosted by CAPS, and an advert for the eight-week support group sessions commencement. , This will increase exposure to the new service by publishing the article before the service goes live. Most students receive emails from JagNews, so this would be an advantageous opportunity for promoting the brand. Additionally, this is direct marketing to the target demographic of this plan since JagNews is a key resource for undergraduate on-campus involvement and news.

"Not only would it be an opportunity to increase on-campus engagement and support mental health awareness, but it would be an exciting opportunity to increase interest in our grief counselling groups."

The next strategy for increasing media exposure is to host a mental health mixer with catered food and mental health booths for on-campus services and campus organizations. CAPS would rent one of the rooms that can be booked at the campus center to host the event. Some of the groups invited to participate could be the Ethnic Mental Wellness Association, Diversity Enrichment and Achievement Program (DEAP), and TRIO Student Support Services. Staff and faculty interested in supporting mental health awareness would also be invited to join in on the fun.

At the event, students will eat, network, and get familiar with some of the opportunities that are available to them on campus by making their way through the booths. After 30 minutes, CAPS would present over the new service being launched. Towards the end of the event, there would be a raffle for supplies students might need such as gift cards, bookbags, Bluetooth headphones, etc. Not only would it be an opportunity to increase on-campus engagement and support mental health awareness, but it would be an exciting opportunity to increase interest in the grief counselling groups and resources being offered by CAPS. It would show students that we value their wellbeing overall and want to create connections beyond session attendance.
