“The marketing plan is to company success as a road map is to car travel. It is an internal communications tool that
everyone consults to know where the business is going and how it plans to get there.”

Kevin J. Clancy and Peter C. Krieg (2000), Counterintuitive Marketing

Discover the Marketing Plan

Objectives are how we will measure the marketing plan's success. Strategies address how objectives are to be achieved. Tactics are the specific actions, details, and activities that lead to success. Discover this plan's objectives, strategies, and tactics above!

In this section, you'll find two social media platforms integrated into the proposed plan to engage students for this marketing plan

The marketing planning process is circular, ending with an evaluation phase which will inform future marketing plans.

Target Market

In an article from PBS featuring an interview with Dr. Steven Woolf, he asserts that young-to-middle-aged adult death rates are increasing. He says that these increased rates are caused by “deaths of despair,” or deaths by drug overdoses, suicides, and alcohol for instance (Woolf). More disturbingly, Dr. Woolf notes that death rates among children and teenagers increased to a size he has never seen before. He attributes these deaths to suicides, homicides, drug overdoses, and car accidents (Woolf).

With these tragic statistics in mind, the target age demographic for this service is 17–25 year-old male and female IU students. The education level is young professionals pursuing their undergraduate or graduate degrees. Moreover, this service is targeted towards low-to-middle class students who may not have access to insurance or expensive therapeutic interventions. The grief support group would be an in-person service offered in both Indianapolis and Bloomington and other grief resources are accessible online.

Psychographics that will be targeted for this service include those who feel alone, depressed, anxious, and isolated. Individuals who may not feel like themselves after losing someone they love would benefit from this service; they might be having a hard time adjusting to life after loss and have difficulty carrying out their old routine or building a new one. Additionally, this service is ideal for busy young professionals who may not have time to attend regular therapy.

With adolescent, young adult, and middle-aged death rates on the rise, it is critical to offer support services to our students that allow them to cope with grief. We must provide them with a safe space to feel heard and understood. Grieving students need these resources to find success in their personal and professional lives.
